Re: Ben Johnson
Ironically, "Man City are the best club side in the World" has been said much less frequently on here than "bore off", which was fresh and new ten years ago.

I can't believe that BJ is getting criticised. Man City are the best team in the world.

He should of Chigwell, but they have the best players to create space for themselves and they are the best club side in the world...

Re: Ben Johnson
He should have closed down De Bruyne to hamper the cross for the first goal: there was plenty of time to do it and we all know that De Bruyne is probably the best two-footed player in the PL.

Re: Ben Johnson
Opinions as always :-)

IIRC, he made 4 poor passing decisions first half, possibly one stray one second half, was beaten by Mahrez once and had the sense to "take a booking for the team" to stop him.

Cresswell had 2 or 3 misplaced passes too. The forwards like Lingard also handed back possession a few times over the course of the game but in trying to create chances going forward.

Johnson's issue is that first half the few times we broke it seemed to go down that side and 3 or 4 times in succession it was his passes that handed it back and hence made it very noticeable.

He played really well overall. If you get into nit picking, Diop's lack of dominance aerially is arguably still a problem. Yes he clears well most of the time but in a challenge for a cross etc. with an opposition player, where you have to position yourself and just make it hard for the opponent to get a clean contact... its still a weakness in his game IMO. Ogbonna and Dawson win most duels, Diop does not against the stronger / more physical opponents. Again IMO and from what I have seen.

And as Eerie comically and rightly point out, and again we know its being harsh, Randolph resembled Warwick Davies for their first goal, But it was a superbly directed ball by De Bruyne.

Anyway, no worries with Johnson, I think at the moment he looks a better bet to be a consistent Premiership performer than Benrahma. Hopefully Benrahma will develop as he great feet but he still has as much learning to do as Johnson. IMO.

He played all right, considering we were up against the best club side in the world.

Re: Ben Johnson
So we changed formation when Masuako got injured, then went back to that formation with a right-footed kid at no time has Moyes thought it possible to play Cresswell there and rightly so . Yet against City is the time to start... FMOB

I like the look of Johnson and think he has a good future with West Ham.

Re: Ben Johnson
Who said anything about a back four?

I would have moved Diop to the left of a back three, with Balbuena to the right of the back three. That would have made us more defensively solid and freed up Cresswell to bomb forward from the left.

So pipe down Sven R-OZ-der you curtain twitching, plastic Aussie, woe is me, wet drip cunt.

Re: Ben Johnson
We can actually take a lot of positives from Johnson's performance.

I have to be honest, after he was booked, I thought it would be a good idea to take him off ( at half time or just after) He wasn't having his best game and I thought that he could end up making a mistake or end up being sent off.

He showed a lot of maturity and character, to be able to come through a dodgy period in the game and end up turning in a very good performance - that takes some doing, especially when it's against Man City.

Re: Ben Johnson
So at h/t we are 1-1 with arguably the best current club side in the world having just equalised keeping the game under control with a back 3.

And the tactical genius CUM ON MY EYES wants to 'improve things' by changing to a back 4. Presumably to give Mahrez more space & get Aguero into the game.
And allow him to tot up BENRAHMA'S mistakes on his abacus

COYI -= BFS

Yeah cause Balbuena and can overlap with Cresswell who can go box to box at pace.

Come On You Irons 1:05 Sun Feb 28
Re: Ben Johnson
As I said on the match thread. Balbuena on for Johnson at half time with Cresswell switched to left wing back.

That would have no doubt improved the team.

Re: Ben Johnson
Ben Johnson is going to be a great player for us and at 19 years old playing out of position did anyone really expect him to do a job on Mahrez and De Bryune who were both playing up against him ? They are genuine world class players who would walk into any international squad in the world. True he didnt have his best game and he misplaced a few passes but they are on a run of 20 straight wins , must be favourite for the Champions league and we could easily have nicked a draw had chances been taken. Instead of slagging off our young players we should be grateful we've got the likes of Ben Johnson coming through and being given a chance to play. Its only a year since we had the Chilean fraud in charge, if Anderson had been playing in Johnson's position yesterday we'd have been handed our usual 5 or 6 nil arse whipping by Abu Dhabi.
